Here is some technical information that might be useful for your school (or home) when using StepsWeb. It includes information on domains, recommended specifications for devices, browser and device compatibility, and known issues. If you are ever unsure of something, you are welcome to contact us for more information.

Minimum & Recommended Specifications

These guidelines are organised by device type; they are a guide only, and should not be taken as a guarantee that any given device meeting the specifications here will function.

In all cases we recommend a screen size minimum of 8 inches

Minimum Requirements for Tablet Devices*:

All Devices
- 512MB RAM
- 1GHz Dual Core Processor
Android Devices
- Android version 5+
- Chrome Browser – NOT Android System Browser
iOS Devices
- iOS version 12+

*While these devices should run StepsWeb, users may note decreased performance during some aspects of the program.

Recommended Requirements for Tablet Devices:

- 1GB RAM
- 2GHz Quad Core Processor
Android Devices
- Android version 5+
iOS Devices
- iOS version 12+

Requirements for Chromebooks:

1GB RAM

Requirements for PC/Mac:

Any computer capable of running the current version of Google Chrome should be able to run StepsWeb. For ease of use, we have replicated these requirements here.

Windows Devices
- Windows 7 or later
- Intel Pentium 4 Processor or later
Mac Devices
- OS X Mavericks 10.9 or later

Domains and Whitelisting

StepsWeb uses the following domains. We recommend you whitelist these domains for your firewall, proxy, etc. We cannot guarantee StepsWeb will run if any of these domains are inaccessible.

Note that the Google domains are for recaptcha during account recovery. They are not necessary for the normal operation of StepsWeb.

Browser Compatibility

We recommend Google Chrome as the browser for StepsWeb, across all devices, as it offers the best compatibility with the features we offer. The following are all supported browsers for StepsWeb:

Known Issues

Audio Recording is unsupported when using iOS Safari Version 11.3 or below, or OSX/macOS Safari
The Norton Security Toolbar extension may prevent you from logging in to StepsWeb. This extension has been replaced by the Norton SafeWeb extension, which is compatible with StepsWeb. Consider upgrading.
The Avast SafePrice extension may prevent you from logging in to StepsWeb.
